Who is Queen Sheba?

There's a lot of mystery surrounding the Queen of Sheba. Historians argue her existence.
She is believed to have been a powerful African Queen, known for carting a caravan of fine treasures to King Soloman across the Middle East in biblical times, documented in religious texts.

Revered and legendary, a little like Cleopatra, from a different time and era.
The Queen of Sheba was known to have fine taste, appreciate beautiful things and be of generous spirit.
Queen Sheba, leaves an impression.

About the Artist

Settled in The Gap, Brisbane for over a decade, Rhondalee of Queen Sheba Ceramics creates jewel-toned, nature-inspired ceramic art that merges aesthetics with practicality.

Originally from the foothills of the Dandenong Ranges, Rhondalee has a deep-rooted connection to the natural world. She finds solace in the quiet strength of trees and water bodies and the majesty of local and exotic fauna—elements that often echo through her designs.

Art runs in her blood. With multiple family members being accomplished artists, Rhondalee grew up surrounded by creative expression.

With a background in fashion, visual merchandising and creative entrepreneurial pursuits, she finally returned to clay as her medium. “Clay is my alchemy,” she says—transforming raw earth into elegant, finely detailed pieces through hand-carving, underglaze painting, and imprinting.

Working with clay is a forceful slowing in a fast paced world. You have no choice but to take time in the process and it's entirely consuming.
